4 Brilliant Ways to use Home Staging with Pantone Colors

GRAfter

For the first time, the 2016 Pantone color of the year is the combination of two colors: Rose Quartz and Serenity. Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute states, “Joined together, Rose Quartz and Serenity demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace.” Serenity conveys the two R’s: Respite and Relaxation while Rose Quartz expresses the two C’s: Compassion and Composure. That is a beautiful sentiment even if you are not a fan of these colors.

Rose Quartz and Serenity pairs well with shades of brown, taupe, gray, navy blue, white and cream; thus, easily incorporated into a seller’s current decor. Inspirations in these colors are found at your favorite home retailer, the florist shop, in art and even in your closet. Here is how I used these colors in a bedroom.  The four brilliant changes made were:

  1. I used a neutral-toned reversible comforter set. The striped taupe and cream side is shown while the other side sports a taupe/gold damask pattern. I recommend comforters that are truly reversible and look great on either side, two for the price of one.
  2. I did purchase two new pieces of art on clearance that have Rose Quartz and/or Serenity in their palette, great for my home staging business which can be rented to the sellers for a nominal cost. I am a huge proponent of art in living spaces. Art creates a mood, it adds personality and color, it can inspire and motivate. (Yes, motivate to buy!)GRCHPM
  3. Remember I stated you could even find accessories in your closet; I used a woman’s scarf and draped it on the chair along with a pillow.
  4. Speaking of pillows, I added several new throw pillows. Pillows are essential in expressing color, warmth and invitability (not a word, I made it up, I think you know what I mean).

I think Pantone is correct in its description of the color of the year. After the redesign, this bedroom has a warm embrace yet is soothing and peaceful…enticing for buyers of either gender!
